Cold but Mostly Dry Weekend Ahead Across Finland

The approaching weekend is expected to be cold but largely dry across Finland, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI).

Temperatures on Friday will range between –10 and –15 degrees Celsius in southern and central parts of the country, while Lapland can expect milder conditions of –5 to –12 degrees. The cold will intensify on Saturday, with much of Finland seeing temperatures drop to between –10 and –15 degrees, before easing slightly on Sunday.

Weather conditions will be mixed, with clearer skies forecast for northern and eastern regions on Saturday. Lapland may also see some sunshine on Sunday, offering a brief break from the winter chill.

The FMI also noted that January was exceptionally cold, marking the coldest January in northern Finland since 1987.
