Migri warns of scam calls targeting immigrants in Finland!
The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) has warned customers about fraudulent phone calls made in the agency’s name.
According to Migri, scammers have attempted to trick customers into revealing sensitive personal information, including online banking credentials. Migri stresses that it never asks for online banking codes over the phone.
Migri advises people not to disclose personal information if they are unsure who is calling. Genuine calls from Migri come from telephone numbers beginning with 0295, and officials communicate in Finnish, Swedish or English.
The agency also points out that it does not communicate residence permit decisions by phone or email, nor does it threaten customers with deportation or other official measures in order to obtain personal information.
People should also check the sender’s email address. Authentic emails from Migri always come from an address ending in @migri.fi.
Migri recommends that anyone who receives a suspicious call avoid sharing any information and verify the caller through official channels.
